Track Review: The Final Conflict - Complete Control

Written by: Jessyka Gritzen

About the Artist
Matt Masters aka The Final Conflict hails from Ontario, Canada and has influenced the drum & bass scene for 14 years, starting as a DJ and moving on to music production at the age of 18. His unique blend of darkness and low frequency oscillator usage separate him apart from any particular drum & bass style currently to date. His aim is and has always been to uplift the human consciousness and raise awareness of Social Corruption through naming conventions, wordplay, sound design and overall philosophical understanding of musical composition. On the turntables he's always a crowd pleaser, dropping anthems like they were going out of style. His beat matching abilities are quoted as "Phenomenal" and his ability to mix in key without the use of a computer program or pre-selecting tracks before his set is astonishing.

Matt started producing Dubstep and Drumstep in 2015 but still continues to produce Drum & Bass as his main genre. In 2016 Matt had produced 126 tracks and is currently not signed to any label under The Final Conflict alias. Although he is currently seeking representation.

Influences are as followed; Noisia, Konflict, Evol Intent, Counterstrike, Zardonic, Calyx & Teebee, Jimi Hendrix, Dylan, Tech Itch, Spore, Feed Me and Bare Noize, among others.

Intro
From the very first beat it is very; giving you instant goose bumps than sounding like a purposeful record stop; the track comes to a slow halt. Robotic noises than enter as the buildup commences into a bass face as soon as the drop hits.
Rhythm
Throughout the whole track, the beat is consistent and well placed. The style is nice and dirty through the track and gives you that urge to go hit that dance floor and rinse it proper!

Instrumental Variety and Balance
Drums are on point in this track; very full sounding and maintain that consistency throughout the track.

Digital Effects
When it comes to the Digital Effects of the Track they were not overused. They balance the drum beats that make even the heaviest of beats sound harmonic. Tying these two together is a perfect element for this track.

Structure
Complete control is a track with the ideal structure for a DJ. The beat being heavy and consistent enough that mixing it with another track and making some beautiful double drops. The ideal track for those DJ's who like the dark and dirty tracks without the super tricky drops.

Commercial Potential
This is one of those tracks that you would hope would be in your everyday racing video game. Personally I would love to enjoy this track on my console's games. Pushing this to a possible gaming company would be an option.

Production and Recording Quality
The production of this track was very nicely done. The sounds are very rounded and full. You can tell the compression process was done properly by how the drums as well as other influenced sounds are well blended and not over baring in places. The recording quality as well is nice and crisp.

Jessyka G's Rating Scale
I give this track 7/10. I give it a 7 purely because this song personally I would not play out often myself because it is a bit dark for my style. But given the right opportunity and time slot with a crowd that appreciates this dark track I would definitely play this out! Definitely a crowd pleaser for those dark junglists.
