Interview:

- Since Ghost Walk, your sound has continued to change over the years. How
would you define your current style?
I feel comfortable in a few areas as I like to change it up with rollers like "Plata O Plomo" or something Jungle influenced like "Higher Ground". Of course I like to make new synth patches which continues to fuel a lot of my experiments with Jump up. Did I mention my release "Close to Me" on Annix's label was a liquid thing?  To be honest I'm always switching up my style and make everything from Dubstep to Techno.

- Which equipment and software do you utilize to make music?
Universal Audio Apollo Twin Duo, Macbook Pro running version 3 of my favorite DAW: Presonus Studio One. Also helpful is the offsite studio I share with a group of other talented musicians.

- How do you feel about the current direction the genre has taken?
I feel it's going in a good direction because of my email inbox. Seeing all different flavors being represented in the promos gives me everything across the spectrum and I think that is good.

- What got you into jungle and influenced you to produce music?
My first love was techno music but I was no where near old enough to go to a club. I started playing the piano by ear and eventually pieced together the most horridly (ghetto) rigged studio comprised of: a few digital keyboards, tape decks, reverb module, Gemini mixer with 4 second sampler, and a demo copy of Rebirth RB338 (the same company that created Reason). The trick was to memorize my patterns well enough to program the back beat and then perform them onto tape before the demo timed out.

- Who helped you get to where you are in the DNB world now?
While I always feel there is more to achieve, I would say the people who take the time to listen to my music.

- With the advent of the digital age, we see new artists popping up every
day. What advice would you give to those first starting out?
Try a few different styles from time to time, you may surprise yourself. Learn basic synthesis techniques, so you don't have to rely on presets.

- Out of every experience worldwide, which would have been your best
memory?
That would have to be in Antwerp for the City Flow Drum and Bass Festival. I love the country and have made lifelong friends whom I look forward to seeing later this year.

- How did you come up with the name, Rawtee?
It's just nick name from my old skate crew in high school lol.

Where can everyone see you rock the party next?
Had an amazing time playing the Get Heavy takeover this week. LA is my home and I always play here along with appearances nationally and internationally. I have Las Vegas on May 5th, and I'll be in Pismo Beach May 20th for Bass Attack. My EU mini tour is in October.

- Shout outs:
My wife Amanda for being the best human in the universe as well as the professional agents, DJ's, producers, promoters, designers and label owners I work with every day. Thank you!
