Tech News: RekordBox 4.2.1 Update

If you use RekordBox or RekordBox DJ, you got prompted for yet another update. What did Pioneer give us this time?

With the last major update, we saw the addition of Video. This allows use not only of their newest controller range, but also the ability to control video with timecode vinyl! Please tell me I am not the only person to juggle baby got back and laugh at the hilarity on screen. Joking aside, the latest update has seen some cool additions.
In the PLX-500 review, we briefly mentioned the ability to rip vinyl into RekordBox. When you open the software, you will notice a small REC button in export mode. When the recording function is armed, RekordBox will automatically begin recording audio on sound input and stop once silence is detected. This can be done with any Digital Analog Converter (Audio Interface, USB Mixer, etc.). The stop/start feature comes into play when ripping LP's with multiple tracks per side. Each track is automatically seperated allowing the record to be left playing, so you can spend more time enjoying the music and less time making sure to hit stop stop and start start at the right times.

Now to Performance mode. Most DVS users love that you can use the same FX that are on a DJM800+ without having one in front of you. Pioneer has expanded on that to include the color FX and spiral FX from the DJM900 NXS.
One final thing to add, which has been prevalent with all RekordBox updates, is a reduced CPU usage. This is great for performance mode users which are sampler and FX heavy, but also great for those who only use the software to manage their music library. We have seen a decreased analyze time on multiple machines.

Be sure to let us know how you feel about the latest update and features in the comments section below.
